We’re really excited to announce that we’re teaming up with Instacanv.as for an Instagram contest!

Instacanv.as is a marketplace allowing users to buy and sell Instagram photos as museum quality canvas art that you can hang up on your wall. Not only is Instacanv.as really cool for photographers, but it makes the BEST gift to give to your significant other.

So what’s the contest? How about the prize (of course there’s a prize!)? Three lucky winners will get a free 12” x 12” canvas of their contest submission.

Here are the rules and what we want to see!

1: Follow @Pairapp and @Instacnvs on Instagram to Sign-Up

2: Post a picture to Instagram of hand hearts, with @pairapp & @instacnvs and the hashtag #handhearts in the photo description.

- What are #handhearts? Use your hands, or one hand from you and your partner, to make a heart shape! See examples here - http://blog.trypair.com/tagged/handhearts

3: Be creative! Instacanv.as and Pair will review the images selected to choose the best submissions. The ones that stand out will have a better chance of winning, and there is no limit to the number of photos you submit, so post away!

The contest starts TODAY, Monday June 18th and you can post your photo(s) to Instagram until Sunday June 24th at 11:59 PST. On Monday June 25th, we’ll announce the winners in the afternoon on our Facebook page and notify the winners via Instagram. Pretty simple, right?

Good luck!

We ran a social media contest in March to give away a pair of the new iPhone 4s and today we introduce you to the lucky winners, Norah and her boyfriend Robbie!

We look forward to sharing more contests with you in the near future as a thank you for all the support as Pair grows. In the meantime, let’s check out Norah’s story below!

How is winning the iPhones from Pair awesome, and what are you doing with your old phones?
When I entered the contest, I never expected to win the iPhones! I entered through Facebook and Twitter and then forgot about it, so I was surprised when Pair tweeted to me that I had won the contest. I think I was in shock for a moment — I called my boyfriend Robbie at work and told him that I had won. At the time when I won, we both had older iPhones, so we were excited to have the opportunity to get the new iPhone 4S. In the few weeks since we’ve had them, I’m already taking more photos with the improved camera, and he’s loving his new phone too. We’re giving our old phones to my parents so we can bring them into the 21st century and give them more ways to communicate with each other through their phones. Maybe my parents will even start using Pair!

Do you think that couples should be using Pair? If so, how do you think it could help relationships?
There are hundreds of thousands of apps out there, but not many that are targeted specifically to couples. Pair has been a fun way to keep in contact with Robbie during the day, and we’ve liked some of the unique features like the ability to draw pictures with each other. We’re big fans of Draw Something, and Pair gives us another excuse to draw silly pictures from our iPhones. Robbie’s the artist in our relationship, so his drawings are always better than mine! It was also fun that I could record a video inviting him to join Pair with me — I was able to tell him a bit about the app before he downloaded it himself.

The other thing I like about Pair is the ability to assign tasks to each other. I think that feature has the most potential to help relationships, especially for people who can be forgetful. By assigning tasks to each other, we can remind each other of important things we need to do, or even letting each other know when we’re running low on milk, and we’ll get alerted through the app. I can see that being useful for a lot of couples.

How has technology made it easier to communicate?
On any given day, Robbie and I are in contact with each other through text messages, email, Twitter, FaceTime — the list goes on and on. There are more ways than ever for us to communicate, whether we’re having a long conversation via video or just sending a text to say hello. Technology lets us be in near-constant communication with each other without disrupting our work or the other things we’re doing.

Thanks Norah for sharing your story and insights and congratulations again for winning our first contest! If your parents start using Pair, let us know and we’ll give them a lesson. :)

We hope everyone is enjoying using the app with their partner! Stay connected with Pair - Join us on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest

We’re excited to announce that Pair is finally released for Android!

You can now find it on Google Play.

Since we first launched our iPhone app, there have been many users emailing us to ask when an Android version will be available. Well, we’ve been working really hard, and can proudly say that Pair is now cross platform. For those of you with Windows Phones, you’ll have to wait just a little while longer. :)

Thank You!

The past month has been a really exciting time for us. When we launched Pair, and it got a truly amazing reception, we were overjoyed. Nothing means more to us than knowing that our users love Pair, and that it actually helps them improve their relationships. In our first month on the App Store, Pair has been downloaded by over 220,000 people, and that number is growing every day!

Today, we’re really excited to announce that we’ve closed our first round of funding. Our goal was to only take investment from people who understand what we were trying to do, and believed in our vision. I’m proud to say that I think we’ve accomplished that. For more information on our funding, check out the TechCrunch article that broke the news!

I want to call out one investor in particular. That investor is YCombinator. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of the amazing partners and team at YCombinator, and we can’t thank them enough.

Also, thank you to our users! You guys are the greatest users a company could hope for, and we’ve been loving all the great feedback you’ve been sending in, so keep it coming!

Introducing Pair

We had a problem. We had just moved to Mountain View, but our girlfriends were still in Canada. We tried using text message, and Facebook to stay in touch, but we really felt like there should be a better way to stay in touch with our partners. We realized that we were sending over 90% of our messages to a single person using tools that were designed to send messages to everyone you know. There didn’t seem to be a better way. So we made one :)

Pair is a brand new messaging app that we like to refer to as Super SMS. Our goal is to make Pair the first thing that pops into your mind when you want to share something with your partner. These days, it’s not only text messages that you want to share, but also photos, video, your location, and even things like sketches. Instead of treating these other types of messages like second class citizens, we treat them the same as text messages. This creates a very fun and intimate timeline between you and your partner, and helps you feel close even when you’re apart.

Our other goal with Pair was to provide some real-time features so that you know your partner is looking at the same thing as you are, at the very same time. ThumbKiss is a feature that lets you see where your partner’s finger is on the screen, and when your thumb meets theirs, both of your iPhones will vibrate. It’s the next best thing to a real kiss! We also included a fun feature called Live Sketch, where you and your partner can sketch together in real-time. Our users love this for things like playing Tic-tac-toe.

We also have some great utility features as well. Using Pair, you can send your location to your partner with the push of a button. This works great for meeting up with your partner at a new place, or just letting them know you got home safe. We’ve also added a great feature called Shared Tasks. This is a todo list that you both share so that you can remind your partner to pick up some milk on the way home!

We’ve have a few more feature that couples will love, but I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so I’ll let you discover those yourself :)

We’d love to hear your feedback, so send any comments/suggestions/complaints to hello@trypair.com

Pair is free, and available in the iPhone App Store today!
